Responsive- Briefing

Responsive Briefing

For this module we will be choosing our own briefs. This also means that when being helped and when working on this throughout the year, everything is personal and individual, including tutors advise.

I really need to keep up with this briefing as i dont want to let it slide or let it get forgotten as that was an issue last year. This time i want to work harder on my time management.

I also need to therefore, meet deadlines of the animation competitions i pick. So this will really be a struggling full on year, as there are many modules and many animations i need to create, but it is all possible if i keep up with the work load.

Studio Brief 1- Individual Practice

For this we need to select a range of animations from competitions; plan them, do some pre-production, create them and then submit them to the live competitions. For this we need to do one large project, so a substantial competition as well as many smaller ones.

So far i have been looking at:

Penguin: To do a book cover for either 'To kill a mockingbird' or 'In cold blood' This would be very different as i haven't done a book cover before so i am interested to try something new.

Full Secs: For this competition you need to do a 2 second title, 1 second animation and 2 seconds for the end slate. This could be quite quick so it would be good to do a few of these that are quite comical.

Loopdeloop: Their brief is Breakfast and runs till November so i will hopefully be able to do this animation as it only needs to be 10 seconds long.

Rubber Onion: This is a podcast suggested to me by a tutor, who sets animation themes whenever he does his show, this would be good as they could be about anything and it seems quite free.

11 Second club: These animations are 11 seconds long so this wouldn't take too long but hopefully i can plan some really good animations for this competition

Show me the animation: This is the final one i am thinking about that has had some really good briefs set in the past so i think i will try this competition also

With all of these competitions being held, i will hopefully be able to do at least 5 different animations in the year for this module.

Studio Brief 2- Collaborative Practice

This brief is a collaborative brief where we need to work with 2-4 people from different courses (Graphic design/Illustration)
For this we need to create a competition piece with with a diary of our own input as well as creating a piece of work that could win a competition. Therefore this must be a substantial piece of work.
Studio Brief 3- Project Report

This is a response to brief 1&2 about how we have worked, grown and summarising the body of work we have created.

This will be a diary on our blog of our work, a physical artefact on a presentation board/ with proposals, A project report as well as a written summative evaluation (750 words)
